Svea Holm is sitting with her classmates and teacher at the Port Wing School. She is sitting on the left in the front row. Victor Holm wrote, “Till vänster första raden Eva Svea Frideborg” which means “First row on the left Eva Svea Frideborg”.

The girls are seated, and the boys and the teacher are standing behind them
in front of the outside of the school. The photo is contained in a
        cardboard frame.

Dust and/or other blemishes have not been removed from this version of the image.

Return to "Families Are Forever"

The names of most of her classmates are written on the back of the frame. The back of the frame containing Svea’s photo with the names of students and teacher. The names were written by someone other than Victor. The girls to the right of Svea are given as: Anna Bodeen, Florence Nelson, Signe Larson, and Irene Gustafson. The teacher, Emil Samuelson, is standing second from the left. The two boys to his right are Ole Olson and Arnold Louve, but the boy to his left is not identified. I checked in the 1920 census, and found the girls and their families. Florence is 11 years old, Signe and Irene are 12 years old, as is Svea, but Anna is only 8. Perhaps Anna’s 12-year-old sister, Martha, has been misidentified as her.
