This horse-drawn wagon served as a school bus for the Holm children when they lived in Port Wing. A little to the right of the horses, there appears to be a child in a white shirt, apparently waiting for the wagon. Click here to see a recent view of a replica of the wagon. In her “Down Memory Lane” story, Aurora Hovey wrote, “In the mild months, we had a wagon pulled by horses; and in the cold months, it was converted into a sleigh. To keep warm, everybody had a brick that had been heated in the oven and wrapped in paper. This we would put down by our feet. When we got to school, we put the brick in the oven in school, and it was kept warm until we got ready to go home.”

The wagon and horses are on a narrow dirt road with a slight ridge with
trees on the other side of the road. A closer, and probably more recent, view of the wagon with a woman
          sitting in the driver's box
