There are two photos on this page.
Douglas Holm (with the beard) working in an Appalachia Service Project in the mountains of southwestern Virginia in June of 1994. The teens from St. John United Church are building a roof over a family’s mobile home.

This second photo shows the context of their work. The team’s adult supervisor, Bob Jackson, is on the left.

The six member crew is on top the mobile home among the rafters
they have assembled for the roof.

Doug’s back is to the camera. He is holding a rafter in place while another
member of the crew fastens it.

Dust and/or other blemishes have not been removed from these versions of these images.
